Citroën Web Sites

Posted on January 11, 2008 at 10:17 pm by Lise

A number of Citroën-related links have been forwarded by members in recent weeks . . . a small sampling of the riches on the web. Jack S. submitted a link to the Internet Movie Cars Database (IMCDB): the Citroen DS in movies and tv series, and Citrothello the personal website of a Swiss Citroën enthusiast (in French!). Jeremy I. forwarded a delightful article “The Iconic Citroen Deux Chevaux” on Frogsmoke and an oddball collection of paper model cars, including many Citroëns. A link, forwarded by singer Maria Jette to Michael B., in Auto Express News (UK), describes the new Citroën 2CV concept car - for release in 2009? And Michael provided “Modern Cars: Who Needs ’Em,” from Original Tin, an online magazine “for motoring on a pedestrian budget” - - suggesting the article could be used “perhaps for a 2008 (60th anniversary) page.” I have archived the links on our club website “Links” page as well. Enjoy!

Citroën News for the New Year 2008

Posted on January 1, 2008 at 9:55 pm by Michael

Leafing through a semi-recent copy of ‘Classic & Sports Car’ Magazine, Martin Buckley’s column touched upon cars he thinks suitable for a ‘mid-life crisis’ (he’s recently turned 40…): “Around these parts we have a lot of hippies, and among them the Citroën DS is the mid-life crisis car of choice for the divorced 50-something, had-an-affair-with-my-yoga-teacher kinda guy whose former wife wouldn’t hear of such automotive frippery. While sitting in a pub garden last Sunday, two of them floated past down the street within minutes of each other, their owners looking typically aloof as they drove by. What is it about those cars? The secret must be in the beans.”

That ‘what is it’ secret about those cars is evident in a report by Quentin Willson, available on YouTube (in somewhat degraded video, but his points are clearly made):

The New Year 2008 marks the 60th anniversary of the Introduction of the 2CV (1948), and I trust that those of us who own same will make an extra effort to keep our ‘Ducks’ in the public eye throughout the coming driving season. We’ll have some ‘extra’ opportunites for adventure, too…travels to Golden, Colorado, or Door County, Wisconsin, and perhaps more. Ducks in a row…what a way to travel!

We invite your comments and suggestions. Take note of the ‘provisional’ calendar and start making plans now for fun in and with your Citroën in 2008! Happy New Year!

New Citroën Club Blog!

Happy New Year

Welcome to the new Citroën Club of Minnesota blog! We plan to post news and Club announcements, stories about our cars and travels (and those of others), links to interesting web sites, notices of cars and parts for sale and/or those who are looking for Citroën objects of desire, plus other information and tidbits of interest to Club members (such as recipes or good places to eat??).

If you think you will be a regular contributor, you can contact Lise by e-mail for a login name and password (and some instructions if needed). If you have an occasional posting, and don’t want to do it yourself, send the info to Lise and it will be added.

We hope the blog is useful and interesting. Do return often to see what has been added and put in your two-cents worth if so moved. Enjoy!

Thoughtful Citroën Guys.

Is this a battle of the beards? Or a convergence of philsophers?
